Opera at Van Vleck House & Gardens Van Vleck House & Gardens is
pleased to partner with State Repertory Opera of New Jersey, to
present a new musical series for 2010, Sunday Afternoon at the
Opera.
The final performance, Sunday, September 19th from 3:00-4:00pm,
will be
“Opera à la Carte”
featuring mezzo soprano Katy Sumrow
accompanied by SRO Artistic Director Dita Delman.

Ms. Sumrow is a
graduate of the esteemed Chopin School of music in Warsaw. She is
a founding member of the Baroque ensemble Buccina Cantorum, has
recorded a CD entitled Music of the Italian Baroque, and has performed
with the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir including the Polish Requiem
conducted by Leonard Bernstein. A member of the State Repertory
Opera of New Jersey for the past four years, Ms. Sumrow has impressed
audiences in productions of Don Pasquale and Il Travotore, among
many others. Ms. Sunrow will be performing from an
“à la carte menu”
with the audience making the selections.
On her website Ms. Sumrow
writes, “I'm singing to make people happy, but also to help
people think about their own lives and their own journey”.
New Jersey's State Repertory Opera has been bringing opera
performances to New Jersey audiences since 1975, providing quality
performers and young singers an opportunity to reach new and
established music audiences. SRO has presented fully staged and
concert performances ranging from the popular repertory Madame
Butterfly and Marriage of Figaro, to the rare and unfamiliar.
Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. A suggested donation of
$10 per person is requested. All proceeds go towards the care and
maintenance of the Van Vleck House & Gardens. Doors open at 2:30pm
