Dita Delman (Founder & Artistic Director)
– A Newark native, Ms
Delman has appeared as an opera and oratorio soloist throughout the East Coast
and counts several recording and film scores among her credits. After graduating
from Rutgers University, Ms Delman studied with Albert Masiello and Ignace
Strasfogel and is now one of New Jersey’s prominent voice teachers. In
addition to maintaining her voice studio in South Orange, she has given several
master classes at Montclair State College. Since the inception of State
Repertory Opera 25 years ago, Ms Delman has devoted her energies to the growth
and success of this company, which she feels is becoming a major arts
organization in New Jersey.

Maestro James Sadewhite (Conductor & Music Director) –
began his conducting career at the age of 15, debuting as a student conductor of
the Westchester County (NY) Youth Symphony in White Plains. Besides his duties
as conductor of the State Repertory Opera, Mr. Sadewhite is Conductor and Music
Director of the Summit (NJ) Symphony. the Chappaqua (NY) Chamber Orchestra, and
Conductor at the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division. Maestro
Sadewhite has appeared numerous times as a guest conductor, including a trip to
Taiwan in 1989, where he conducted several Chinese orchestras. Mr. Sadewhite has
completed a B.A. in performance from the State University at Potsdam, NY
(1964-68) and two Masters degrees from Columbia University with a major in
conducting. He has studied conducting with Norman Leyden, James DePriest,
Seymour Rubenstein, Ascher Temkin, and has been advised by Sixten Ehrling at the
Juilliard School.
Maestro Sadewhite passed away on October 26, 2013.
